Albania, located in Southeastern Europe, is officially known as the Republic of Albania. Albania is a member of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, World Trade Organization, the United Nations, Organization of the Islamic Conference, Council of Europe and Union for the Mediterranean. Agriculture employs around 50% of the country's population. Chief crops are wheat, corn (maize), sugar beets and watermelons along with apples, plums, grapes, walnuts and chestnuts. It has rich deposits of mineral resources especially petroleum, natural gas, coal, chromite, copper, bauxite, iron ore, nickel and salt.
